Five hundred years from now, the Chao Phraya has run dry and the cities have gone one at a time. What is left of Thailand has fled north-east, to the one basin where the Mekong still runs. Water is the most valuable thing there is.

You are Sarisa, an engineer with ten million baht on her head, carrying a truth the ruling family needs nobody to know. Riding pillion behind you is Pailin Sinwaritsakul — the person you told, the person who chose her family, and the officer sent to bring you in.

Fifteen fortresses across the wasteland. Keep the water, keep the bike running, and decide, choice by choice, what five years of hatred is worth.
